The Asia-Pacific vetronics market is projected to register a CAGR of 4.57% during the forecast period, 2022-2030, and is set to reach $1434.03 million by 2030.

The vetronics market growth in Asia-Pacific is attributed to the rising number of defense programs. Also, countries like Japan, South Korea, India, and China are working on several programs to modernize their land-based platforms. Additionally, major industry players are heavily investing in research and development to incorporate network-centric technologies in land-based vehicles.

The Asia-Pacific vetronics market growth assessment includes the analysis of Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, China, India, and Rest of Asia-Pacific. In China, the Electronic Warfare, Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs), Army Aviation, and Special Operations Forces (SOF) divisions have seen considerable growth in recent years despite the declining PLA Land Force. Also, the new operational doctrine of the PLA ground forces highlights the electronic, information technology, cyber, and long-range precision strikes. Additionally, modern battlefield information networks like LAN/WAN networks, UAV-based monitoring and identification systems, satellite communications, and mobile command and control centers have superseded the older generation telephone/radio-based command, control, and communications (C3) systems.

In South Korea, the ROK army (the ROK Army or South Korean Army) is set to deploy about 390 Black Panthers. A 1500 HP MTU-based engine with a 55-caliber 120mm autoloader main piston will be used in the K2 Black Panther. In Taiwan, the government is manufacturing two new military vehicles to strengthen its defense capabilities. One of the combat vehicles being developed is the CM-32 Clouded Leopard. It will have a 105-millimeter cannon mounted on it.

Next is an old M113 armored carrier and multi-purpose Humvee replaced with a four-wheeled tactical reconnaissance vehicle. Besides, three additional prototypes will be evaluated in 2024. If the prototypes fulfill military specifications and standards, Taiwan expects to manufacture over 300 vehicles. Such developments boost the market growth in these countries.

The Asia-Pacific vetronics market scope includes end-user, system, and vehicle type. The system segment includes vehicle protection system, power system, navigation system, and electronic warfare & C4 system.

Future combat vehicles need to have more agility and include armaments like electromagnetic guns, electromagnet armor, and directed energy weaponry. A hybrid electric power system is considered the optimum option to meet the need for pulsed power for weaponry & armor, continuous auxiliary power, and propulsion. However, the power supply needed to be integrated into the vehicles to support these systems presents a significant challenge to vehicle integrators and technology developers. Accordingly, survivability, lethality, and mobility, and certain additional users like NBC and C4SIR systems place demands on the power supply.

Some of the key firms operating in the Asia-Pacific vetronics market include General Dynamics Corporation, BAE Systems, Thales Group, Lockheed Martin, etc.

Thales Group develops and manufactures electrical equipment and provides services to the security, transportation, defense, and aerospace sectors. Also, it offers technology solutions on a global scale. In addition, the company provides onboard systems and services, tools, and digital identity & security solutions for both public and corporate sector clients.

One of its key products, TEWS – Tactical Electronic Warfare System, is a comprehensive tactical electronic support and attack system. The sensors are integrated on any platform and use secure data and voice networks for sensor C2 integration.
